The Muskoxen are a group of four friends (including two biological brothers) that grew up together. Muskoxen Vince and Muskoxen Keith are brothers, and Muskoxen Geoff and Muskoxen Vince met at Jeffers Hill Elementary. Muskoxen Brendan moved to the area a few years later and in sixth grade sat across from Muskoxen Vince in Home Economics class. Of course there were times when the friends were more distant, but in college everyone came back together and have remained close friends ever since.

The modern Muskoxen began in the summer of 2002 when Muskoxen Brendan, Muskoxen Geoff, and Muskoxen Vince decided to go on a camping trip. Muskoxen Brendan thought it might be fun to invite Muskoxen Keith. The Muskoxen had a great time hiking, canoeing, playing air darts, and falling off of chairs. This was the first unofficial Muskoxen event. After the camping trip, the Muskoxen started getting together regularly, hanging out, and taking trips together.

The Muskoxen became official in the lead up to the Man-Shower in March of 2006. During the planning discussions for the Man-Shower, it was suggested by Muskoxen Brendan that we name our "club." After ridiculing him, the rest of the Muskoxen came around to the idea, and the naming discussion began.

Names like the Cougars, Jaguars, and other animals were thrown around until Muskoxen Keith sent a long list of suggestions. Included in the list were many odd-sounding and weird animal names. One of them was muskox. After a little research we discovered that muskoxen are big, hairy, slow, and smelly. We thought that was perfect. We made it plural and the Muskoxen were born. Muskoxen Vince disputes Muskoxen Keith's claim to have discovered the name.

Since then, we have celebrated the Muskoxen at every opportunity. Along with our MSO's (Muskoxen Significant Others), we've held the Muskoxen Olympics, gone on vacations, and celebrated birthdays and holidays, all together. Special occasions also require t-shirts to be worn for the duration of the activities, such as the Man-Shower and 30th birthday parties. We gather as often as possible, and have a good time every time.

Most of all, though, the Muskoxen is a brotherhood. We are there to celebrate with each other, help each other, and make fun of each other.

My brothers, the Muskoxen.
