Vizio HD TV Remote problems

OK, so I’m the relatively new owner of a Vizio 47” HD LCD TV (bought it in Jan 09), and I love it, EXCEPT for the fact that the remote control just stops working randomly. I’ve tried replacing batteries to no avail. I’ve searched online for suggestions, and there definitely seems to be a problem because others are experiencing the same issue, but there doesn’t seem to be a definite solution. This problem has happened several times now, and often remedies itself over time, but I’d like to know how to get the nonsense to stop. Anyone have any suggestions?  Come on, help a brotha out...

[Note: I just sent an e-mail to Visio's tech support  (techsupport@vizio.com), I'll let you know what they say when they respond.]

[Note #2: I found that unplugging the TV for a few minutes and then plugging it back in helps, but it's a pain in the ass - there has to be a better way!   Also, I got an autoreply email from Vizio's tech support yesterday saying something like "Thanks for sending your email, someone will get back to you soon."  We'll see...]

[Note #3: I got an email from Vizio's tech support asking me to CALL tech support at Vizio.  Ummm... WTF?  OK... I called.  The guy on the phone told me to unplug my TV, take the batteries out of the remote and then hit every button on the remote two times before reinserting the batteries (this apparently resets the remote).  I did it.  It worked! Haven't had a problem since.  I also got a case number  so that if I have problems in the future I can call back and get straight through and deal with warranty BS.  All in all, not bad.  If anyone out there is having similar problems, try this method - it may save you a headache!]
